Emission controlling is one of the best topic that OEMs in all over the world have to give more importance. Demands of decreasing harmful gas amount is getting bigger in the fast-growing automotive world. Especially after 2016 emission scandal, companies started to pay more attention about this issue. However; even the demands of emission controlling is getting higher easily, process for emission controlling of internal combustion engines is not that easy. There are couple of methods which can be used for dilution exhaust gasses when combustion is occurred or after combustion. The methods which is using after combustion, is called after treatment systems and the methods which is using effect directly combustion is Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system. This study is presented one of the heavy duty diesel engine's EGR system flow modelling in 1D and 3D platforms. Also after simulating current situation, an optimization is performed with modeFRONTIER for better EGR distribution for every cylinder with geometrical changes of EGR mixer in consideration with engine program stage and ease of manufacturing.
