Angelo Casolo

Senior Technical Consultant, MSC Software

Angelo Casolo graduated in Mechanical Engineer at Polytechnic University of Turin in 2000 with a Thesis on the development of a metal-plastic component for a body chassis in collaboration with Fiat Research Center. He got a research grant for Vehicle Dynamics Study and Controls Strategies using Adams/Car and Matlab/Simulink at Polytechnic University of Turin under the supervision of professor Mauro Velardocchia and in collaboration with CTPH team in Balocco. From 2002 to 2008 he worked multibody analysis expert in automotive and machinery areas at Tesco TS. Since 2008, he has been working in MSC Software as as Adams analyst/expert in Technical Team and since 2015 in Pre-Sales Team.

Exploiting Optimization Techniques for Multibody Analysis to Define Uncertain Input Parameters with modeFRONTIER and ADAMS/CAR
Industries [Automotive]
Sala Saturnia, Wed, 23/05/2018 - 14:30 - 14:50

This presentation illustrates the successful integration of ESTECO and MSC Software technologies to align experimental results and data input for a multibody model of four-cylinders in line engine. With multibody Adams/Car it has been modeled a four stroke engine inserting pressures law versus crank angle and engine speed. Using MSC APEX flexible engine and vehicles elements have been created easily and inserted in a complete assembly modelling the system up to transmission shaft. modeFRONTIER is used to align experimental engine modal frequency and multibody model, and to characterize bushing model used in time domain starting from frequency domain data. The approach is used to have a methodology to judge objectively different bushings using the available experimental data and a method to optimize the system using powerful tools inside modeFRONTIER.
